Fake online diplomas hurt everyone who considers psychology degree programs online. When a graduate with a legitimate online degree goes into the marketplace, they may not be considered with as high of a regard as a student who attended a traditional school because employers are wary of online universities. Another way to ensure that you are going to get a legitimate online degree is to check the legitimacy of the Internet University in question. The Council for Higher Education Accreditation has this information. Or, you can choose to write to the Diploma Mill Police, an organization that authenticates online universities.
Going with your gut instinct can also be helpful as well. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, there is a good chance that it probably is. When you earn a legitimate online degree, you can generally expect the same amount of coursework and assignments that you would receive at a traditional university. Online degree programs that promise you a diploma in a vastly shortened time span or with very little work involved need closer consideration.
